MikroTik using the SDWAN remote access feature

The SDWAN remote access feature for MikroTik allows you to connect to your MikroTik router securely and temporarily. You can choose between a Winbox or SSH connection, and the feature will automatically generate a temporary user, password and port for you.

To get remote access to a MikroTik router using the SDWAN remote access feature, follow these steps:

1. Open a web browser and navigate to the administration page of your MikroTik router.
2. Click on the “SDWAN” icon in the menu bar.
3. Access the “Transitional Access” section,
4. On the “Transitional Access” page, select the type of connection you want to use.
   • Winbox:If you are using Winbox to connect to your MikroTik router, select this option.
   • SSH: If you are using SSH to connect to your MikroTik router, select this option.
5. In the “Time of stay” section, select the period of time during which you want remote access to be valid.
6. Click on “Request access”.
7. Access data will be generated automatically. The temporary user, password and port will be displayed on the page.
8. To connect to your MikroTik router, use the generated access data.

Here are some examples of how to use the generated access data:

• To connect to your MikroTik router using Winbox:
  1. Open the Winbox.
  2. In the address bar, enter the host address provided.
  3. In the “User” field, enter the temporary user.
  4. In the “Password” field, enter the temporary password.
  5. Click on the “Connect” button.
• To connect to your MikroTik router using SSH:
  1. Open an SSH client.
  2. In the “Host” field, enter the host address entered.
  3. In the “User” field, enter the temporary user.
  4. In the “Password” field, enter the temporary password.
  5. In the “Door” field, enter the temporary door.

Observations:

• The SDWAN remote access feature is only available if your MikroTik router is configured with SDWAN functionality.
• The remote access generated by the SDWAN remote access feature is valid for a defined maximum period.
• If you need remote access for a longer period, you can request a new remote access.
