How FailOver works

🌐 WAN Failover with up to 4 Links #

The MikroTik SD-WAN platform supports intelligent failover across up to 4 WAN links, ensuring high availability for your network connection.

Each link is monitored based on latency and packet loss to public DNS servers, allowing the system to detect failures automatically.

🔄 Failover follows a sequential order: if the primary link fails, the system switches to the secondary, then tertiary, and so on.

⚙️ Configuration Requirements #

  • Each WAN link must be pre-configured on MikroTik with an active gateway.
  • Any manual failover scripts should be removed to avoid conflicts.
  • Each link must be assigned a corresponding distance value before activating failover.
  • Ensure all links have active internet access before activation.

🛠️ Updates & Support #

Changes to failover settings may take up to 5 minutes to be fully applied across the network.

🧩 If you encounter any issues, please contact support and include relevant screenshots to help troubleshoot the problem effectively.
