VPN Details for SD-WAN on MikroTik
Supported Protocols #
The VPN supports L2TP + IPsec and OpenVPN. WireGuard support will be added soon.
Security and Authentication #
- The shared secret is randomly generated and changed whenever the concentrator is replaced.
- When the concentrator is changed, all clients are automatically reconnected.
Requirements for Activation #
- A concentrator with a public IP is required to activate the VPN.
- Subnets must be configured on both the concentrator and client devices.
Network Configuration #
- It is recommended that the CIDR of registered subnets is not repeated on multiple devices.
- VPN configuration changes may take up to 5 minutes to be fully applied.
